Manistee Academic Experiences
The Trig Star program challenges student to use their trigonometry skills in solving surveying problems. The program is sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors, and the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors encourages its members to get out and promote it at the local schools. After getting a real life lesson in actually using the surveying equipment, the students take a test qualify for scholarships.

“We have been doing Trig Star at Manistee for seven years. It is always one of my favorite times of the semester when the kids actually get to do some practical applications of what they learned in trigonometry class. I am hoping that maybe at some point in time one of these kids will use that in a career and get inspired to do something for the rest of their lives.”
